Dr Jeanette Van Luyn, Clinical Psychologist
About Jeanette

I have worked as a Clinical Psychologist since 2013, practicing in both Australia and the United Kingdom. I am passionate about providing person-centred mental health care, an approach that respects and responds to each person's unique needs and preferences. I create a safe and empathic space during therapy, and offer the compassion and guidance needed to help my clients reach important insights and identify solutions to problems. I believe in the strength and resilience in everyone, and foster growth by helping individuals to find motivation and direction through their own values, strengths and wisdom.
Across my career, I have worked with hundreds of individuals, families and care teams, and hold expert knowledge in my areas of specialty. I provide psychological therapy, with a particular focus on working with adults over 60 and individuals of any age who have survived trauma. I also work with people who are living with dementia, and their families, offering support and advice to ensure a good quality of life. Person-centred care recognises that everyone needs a tailored approach, and I value working collaboratively and creatively with my clients as we find effective strategies to promote their wellbeing and recovery.

I completed my Doctor of Psychology at the University of Queensland. My practice is grounded in scientific research as well as philosophy, and I value ongoing learning, self-awareness and reflection. I am an AHPRA Board-approved supervisor and offer clinical supervision for psychologists and other mental health professionals across their career. I am a knowledgeable and enthusiastic teacher, and offer bespoke training in my areas of specialty to care organisations and educational institutions.
We all have unique needs and preferences for communication and support, and I endeavour to understand and meet those needs with creativity and open-mindedness. I strive to create a therapeutic space where every person feels respected, understood, and valued. I am committed to providing safe, inclusive, and affirming care for people of all ages, cultures, faiths, sexual orientations, gender identities and neurodiverse experiences. I welcome and honour the diverse identities and values that each individual brings.
